We have a rule that -ssy- is [sj] with the verbal suffix -ya, but [ʃ]
in other contexts.
So we have passya [ˈpæsjə] but passyon [ˈpæʃən]
grassyes [ˈɡɹæʃəs] 'gracious'.
Rùssyan [ˈɹʊʃən] 'Russian'
posessyon [pɔˈzɛʃən] 'property'
What do we do about this, however:
encressya [ɛŋˈkɹɛsjə] 'increase'
Is the derived noun
encressyans [ɛŋˈkɹɛʃəns] 'increase'
or
encrecyans [ɛŋˈkɹɛsjəns] 'increase'
Or does the rule about -ssya also apply to -ssyans?
