If <u> represented /ø/ we might expect occasional spellings as  
*<paresy>.
There appears to be a rule in words with /oe/ in the base form and <y>  
by vocalic harmony before -y in the next syllable:

eus ~ usy
*beuth ~ budhy
breus ~ brusy
anfeus ~ anfusy
*pareus ~ parusy
*euth ~ uthyk [uth is attested].

At all events it seems that forms like beudhi, anfeusi, pareusi should  
not be included in the SWF.
