Probably not. George's peub is a pronoun and is frequently written  
<pep, peb> in MC.
The adjective is usually <pup> or <pub>.
It has been suggested that the first is stressed and has [oe:]  or  
[e:] as its vowel.
The second may well have schwa.
Curiously Lhuyd writes the first as peb AB: 244c and the second as pôb  
e.g. AB: 135c.
