[Spellyans] Further to "box", & then "desk"

Fred Jago in THE ANCIENT LANGUAGE, AND THE DIALECT OF CORNWALL, WITH AN ENLARGED GLOSSARY OF CORNISH PROVINCIAL WORDS, 1882, has: "Kist-vean. A Celtic stone built chest or burial place. It is Celtic Cornish and reads literally chest little." He did not write keest.

Should SWF <desk> "a desk" have a long or short vowel? The MAGA pronunciation guide says that the vowel is long before <-sk>, but UCR gave this as short.
