Forms without the -w- are found for these which indicate that the distinction between [ɡʷ] and [ɡ] was lost in at least some varieties of Cornish, .

It is for this reason thtat we describe:

gwlas [ɡlæːz] or [ɡʷlæːz]; [læːz] or [ʷlæːz]

gwlân [ɡlɒːn]~[ɡlæːn] or [ɡʷlɒːn]~[ɡʷlæːn]; [lɒːn]~[læːn] or [ʷlɒːn]~[ʷlæːn]

gwrës~gwrÿs [ɡɹeːz]~[ɡɹiːz] or [ɡʷɹeːz]~[ɡʷɹiːz]; [ɹeːz]~[ɹiːz] or [ʷɹeːz]~[ʷɹiːz]
