Dublin is the area round the Castle, Áth Cliath is the ford below Christ Church.

Ireland is full of places with two names: Doir Né: Casla/Costelloe, Co. Galway
Sráid na nIascairí/Fisherstreet: Doolin, Co. Clare
Fál Carrach: na Croisbhealaí, Co. Donegal
An Buailtín: Baile an Fheirtéaraigh/Ballyferriter, Co. Kerry
Lios Dún Bhearna: an Spa, Co. Clare.

I could go on.
