No. I intended to explain [ɪ] + [ʊ], not [i] + [ʊ]. Since spellings ‹yw› 'is' and ‹ew› 'is' and their respective variants (yv, yu; ev, eu) are attested it is unlikely this word would ever have had [i] as the onset and nucleus of the diphthong.
