Dear all,

As it seems there may be some misunderstanding, here’s a bit of information from me as author:

Gerlyver Kescows published by Agan Tavas November 2017. Standard Cornish orthography, same ‘foundation text’ approach as for Desky Kernowek and Geryow Gwir, as used in published translations of Nicholas Williams. 5000 words and expressions sourced mainly from Professor Williams’ Gerlyver Sawsnek-Kernowek and from his translations, and selected specifically for conversation at ‘Yêth an Weryn’ and language events of Agan Tavas.

Full Cornish-English section. Also comprehensive list of ‘grammar words’. English-Cornish index. Plus reference charts of common verbs, numerals, mutations; 200 colloquial greetings / exclamations. Also 250 place names sourced mainly from Gerlyver Sawsnek-Kernowek and from Craig Weatherhill’s A Concise Dictionary of Cornish Place-Names.

Let’s not undo any good work. I want to see more help for those wishing to converse in authentic Cornish on everyday topics of current interest. So flash cards in PowerPoint format are also available on request. And there will be an Excel spreadsheet enabling sorting of contents by category. UC and UCR spellings for each entry can be made available in the same manner if there is demand.

Good value, I hope, at £9.95.

Best regards,

Ian Jackson

Last Friday Agan Tavas launched a new conversation dictionary in Kernowek Standard, details may be found here: https://www.agantavas.com/cornish-conversation-dictionary/

Compiled by Ian Jackson, Agan Tavas welcomes this dictionary as a part reversal of the UC(r) English-Cornish dictionary compiled by Nicholas and republished in 2006. The dictionary has been compiled in a scholarly and meticulous manner as one would expect from someone with Ian's background. It provides just the sort of words that typically crop up at Yeth an Weryn meetings.

Gromercy milweyth dhywgh Ian.
